Dog Grooming Tips
Proper grooming is an important part of your pets care. You will need to make sure to brush your pet thoroughly every day, as it keeps their hair in good condition and removes dirt, prevents tangling and keeps skin clear of infection.
Nails will need to be trimmed around once per month with a specially designed clipper for your kind of pet. You will also want to have around a small bottle of blood clotting powder. Have your pet sit beside you, place a paw in your hand and slowly pull forward to you. Gradually shorten nail, stop before reaching the quick, which has nerves and blood vessels, it is just behind the part where the nail starts to curve downward.
Ears are very important, infections can be painful, but more so can lead to loss of hearing. Check ears 2 times per month, skin inside flaps should be pale pink. If you find a foul odor or any red/brown/ black skin see your vet. Moist a cotton ball with warm water, clean opening of canal and flaps
Dog can get cavities and periodental disease just like humans. Use pet toothpaste 2 times per week, use a small brush with soft bristles.
Bathing of your dog should be done once every 60 days or less. Brush before each bath to get matting out. Cover ears while bathing, use warm water.
